I noticed today that someone has posted newspaper articles, opinion pieces actually, offering different opinions on hunting, with particular emphasis on hunting deer in eastern Ontario. My impression is that the individual who posted these clippings is an anti-hunter. It is not uncommon to find anti-hunters in the workplace when you are in a job class, as am I, that is dominated by middle-aged and older women. It is just as well that I keep the details of much of my personal life private. I was off on my annual hunting holiday last week, but made no mention of what I was up to during my time off. I had a great time during my week off. I got out lots with Maggie into the uplands, and went waterfowling on the Rideau River and on a wheat field. I shot several woodcock and four ducks in the process. I am not ashamed of being a gun owner and hunter. These are personal ethical choices I have made for myself and will stand my ground if confronted by anti-gun and anti-hunting types. Having said that, however, this does not mean I am spoiling for confrontation with said types. The person or persons here who hold anti-hunting opinions are free to do so and to express them. I will be good enough to ignore them and go about my business in peace.
