I viewed with some astonishment posts in the feminist forum on rabble/babble yesterday in which a babbler who goes by the nick sven was bold enough to challenge the doctrinal truth: it is for no other reason that men and men's penises tenaciously cling to their power over women there is disparity of incomes between the sexes. Actually, in the rabble/babble universe this doctrinal truth, presumably revealed to the rabble/babble crowd by the Goddess of Historical Materialsim applies to everything in terms of relations between the sexes and the condition of the planet, Western Civilization, etc. Men and men's penises are to blame for everything from the last ice age to everything else that is wrong with the world. Anyone who challenges this doctrine is typically branded a heretic and silenced. Strangely though, sven was granted latitude to develop his argument, even in the face of name calling, insults and threats from moderators that he would be silenced. Can it be there is hope that the rabble/babble crowd can be plied with reasoning and rhetoric? Perhaps this is wishful thinking on my part. On the basis of what I have viewed on rabble/babble since its creation, my impression is that this is to what George Orwell was referring when he wrote ignorance is strength.
